How do i fix this paint shade difference

No…. DON’T add salt / sand into the paint bottle!!!!! Salt (or salt method) can be used as weathering. Most commonly on aircraft and armor kits. Even to create a rusted out beat up car or truck. Here’s a good tutorial video:

I may have screwed up tank stowage

Flat clearcoat should dull the sheen

How do i fix this paint shade difference

Yup… wood comes in a variety of shades. No single board of wood are alike - certainly not uniform in color. Buy some brown Tamiya Panel liner or make your own - dilute brown really thin and translucent or use brown chalk scrapped from a knife blade with water and a drop of dish soap. Just...

Sounds to me you’re trying to create some sort of sanding needle file? https://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Paint_and_Construction/sanding-needle-assorted/FLX00000404/product.php?s=4-3&t=2-2&u=2-2 Hobby Lobby has them as does scalehobbyist. Honestly, I think you’re overthinking too much...

Agreed on every single point mentioned above.

    Primer dry time

Any paint spray can will give off fumes. There's no escaping it. After spray while drying, not as bad but it usually disappears fairly quick.

How do you pros prevent paint from running under masking tape?

Easier if you mask the canopy (do your own or buy masks) and glue them on the aircraft. I always install my masked canopy onto the fuselage prior to airbrushing. Leave the masks on until after you’ve finished decal session and the final flat clearcoat is applied.

    WTB, TCB Motorycle

Any vintage kit is gonna be pricy for your taste - especially unbuilt and in sealed box. No surprise on the eBay link. I’ve been looking for these for years…. They’re either hard to find and/or the seller is asking for stupid money for them...

    Foil?

A very sharp blade is a must. I like the Z-series blades. Walmart usually has them but my local Walmart hasn’t stocked them in awhile.

    Foil?

Pull BMF section you need. Buff on your model kit - trim excess if need be. I’ve always used BMF on painted surface on my car model kits.

    Hairspray

If you’re wanting to experiment hairspray method, practice on a mule kit. NEVER on a kit you’re working on. Hairspray for chipping isn’t a requirement or must have. There are chipping paints / paint pens as well. If I’m doing chipping, I do it by handbrushing. I never do hairspray method for...

    Less Toxic Option

I may want to try the Roket glue…. I’ll have a look in Michtoy.com. Besides, I’m due to restock on Deluxe 10-second liquid glue. Love that stuff better than Tamiya liquid glue.

    Broken bottle

Nope. I’ve replaced caps on my Testors Model Master paint jars. I save the caps when my paints are gone or gone bad. The wash will be fine without the plastic tip. You still have the cap so what’s the difference?

    Dirty Glue

Here's a hint…. liquid glue (or tube glue) and paint don't play nice. Why? They leave a mess, glue don't stick to paint. My advice is scrape any area where glue needs to adhere and set. Don’t bother with coffee filter to get dirt residue out. Most likely they’ll be settled at the bottom of...

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

On serious note… I never shop at spruebrothers - too expensive. Half the time when Ifind something I need/want, they’re out of stock. Gave up on them a long time ago. My go-to online hobby shop has been Scalehobbyist for several years. Great prices and cheaper than most competitors. Not to...
