Grendels-Thanks you good sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Quaralane-Thanks buddy. I fully intend on doing some washes and a little pigment work to bring out some details. Might even do some battle damage.
NecronautDrummer-Appreciate it! It has been a pretty tough paint job so far.
Igard-thanks man. appreciate the support
Ok so this little guy is taking me way longer than I thought it would, but, what else is new right??? The model is just about complete. I just dont want to show it until this base is done with. This base has turned into a major project in and of its own, Im trying to make something that looks similar to one of those kotobukiya chain bases, Here is a pic of one if you're not familiar..
Once I had the basic shape together i filled in all the areas that were still showing wood with some milliput and sanded everything smooth
then went ahead and scribed in some floor paneling, that is dymo tape that I am using as a scribing guide, i've tried all kinds of scribing methods and the drymo tape is the best by far. At this point I was still confident that this was going to be a quick little base build..
starting to think about the basic frame of the back wall, this is some square styrene rod. The shaded area is what will be removed with the dremel.
Here is what I was left with after doing two of those.
filled in the gaps with some sheet styrene, at this point I was beginning to realize that this might take longer than I had originally planned...
Then added some support rods for the next step..
Starting to creat the upper section of the base
then decided to cover everything with styrene. At this point it is taking forever to keep everything even and flush a lot of filling and sanding going on..
puttied up
opposite view
Once I finally had to main outer frame of the base done I started working on the other structures located on the rear wall..
Made this from square tube, strip, and sheet styrene
workin it out with some more square styrene
thanks for checking it out. more to come soon
