Hi everyone. I am trying to improve my skills in this area and hopefully someone will have some suggestions as to how to achieve this I bought some AK skin tones 3gen but could do with some advice on using this Regards Trev

Hiya Trev, I asked a similar question in my thread about colonial troops, and @Steve Ski left a few pointers which I have found helpful. They are more about oils, but not all.

I have also consulted a few books, I found this one very good as newbie, but after a while different sources and UTubers start providing redundant advice.

My approach us to pick one that seems reasonable, and doable, make multiple attempts, and go from there.

Other folks on this forum often remind us (in other threads) that if you really goof up, there are ways to remove that paint and start again!

I've posted it elsewhere, but here is my horde of Italians who volunteered to help me learn how to figure paint. Hopefully by the last one, I'll have learned something!

Hi thanks very much for the info good advice. I have had a look at YouTube but there is so many ways people do things. I suppose you just have to find what's good for you!. I will have a look at some books and the one you have shown looks good. Nice painting by the way. Regards Trevor

Indeed :) It's that way with modelling in general: develop your own ways of doing things, that will work better for you than slavishly copying someone else's techniques in hope of achieving the same results. The ways in which other people do things will help with that, because they may have methods, materials or techniques that you never thought of, but if something doesn't work for you, or you don't see the point of it, don't feel you need to do it anyway because somebody else does. Rather, do it the way you think will work, and don't be afraid to just try something to see what happens. That's how all those people making YouTube videos and writing magazine articles got to where they are now, too.
