Here is a build I recently completed of a long-since out of production 1/24 ESCI Jeep CJ7. ESCI was the only one to build a 1980s CJ-7 (with pull door handles). Despite popular belief, the Revell / Monogram kit isn't a rerelease. It's a small difference, but it is significant. The box art says Golden Eagle, however the stripe kit isn't correct for one (mine was missing anyway). The side stripes are Laredo style, not Golden Eagle.

I built mine to replicate a real 83 CJ-7 Limited in a factory one-off custom ordered Deep Night Blue & Light Slate Blue paint scheme (I can't take credit for that one). I used automotive paint matched to the factory color codes. Limited was the rarest trim on CJ (from 81-83), and featured painted fender trim, accent colored wheels and pinstripes that matched the color-keyed hardtop and door appliqués.

Over all a great kit…but the roof went together like trash. Nothing lined up and the mold lines were way off. I usually build box-stock but if I had to do it over again, I would have cut all the tabs off and worked on it

Anyway, here it is

I haven't seen that kit in a LONG time Jon and you did a great job in building it at that.

VERY nice 1:1 ride too. WOW!!

Hey Joe! I'm doing well. Just got back from NC helping out some family dealing with the flood aftermath. Was hoping to do some paint work today but the weather isn't that great - too wet and humid so cleaning up the office/model/studio room :)
Sorry to hear about the whole flood ordeal with your family and hope things are okay on that front.

Awesome build, and compliment the photographer, that last picture looks soo real, it must be the lighting!
That very last picture looks like you could actually jump in it and drive away right??

That's because you can! That's the real Jeep haha (you may have known that but the joke flew over my head lol). But thank you! I had a lot of fun with this otherwise quick build
