Airfix 1:72 RNLI Shannon Class Lifeboat Starter Set - GROUP BUILD

You guys will still probably finish before me...lol... So far the fit isn't awful. I've got the hull halves together and waiting for glue to set up so I can add the stern cap.

As I sit in happy wonderment, I contemplate all of the peices of the model my uncle gave to me on my eighth birthday.
Now, all that is left is to try to put this model together.
This model looks daunting, so as I sit in hopes I grab the Xacto blade to remove the parts as carefully as possible.

This should be fun. So, here goes nothing.

Also my silver is a bit crusty and black. The black looks like it evaporated before turning crusty.
Orange, white, & blue are fine.

I found the orange is really hard to get good coverage. I had to apply a coat, let that dry then paint another, and another, and another...
My orange paint is very thick.
I have possibly one or 2 more coats to apply to smooth out the brush strokes

Same here. I did use a white primer on the orange sections and gray primer on the rest. Still will take a couple coats of orange. I also thinned it down some.

I only have black and Dunkel Gelb (German dark yellow) for primer. I guess I need to broaden my primers. ;)
