Airfix kits. Are they good kits worth building?

Thanks. Any additional kits besides the P-40 you'd recommend from Airfix? I've been enamored by all the Cold War jets they offer but have been scared by the plastic issue…
There are a lot of excellent reports on the 1/24 scale new tool Spitfire which was released last year. Plenty of builds of it on YouTube. I have one of the kits, still in its box, ready to start in the fall.

Been seriously looking at the 1/24 Spitfire but it's just finding space to put it. A colleague of mine has bought 2 of them and he says that they are amazing. Pantherman

Scalemates lists a kits history. That way you can determine if the kit you're interested is a newer mold and by whom. Like the 1/32 Hobby Craft P-40C is the same molding as the Trumpeter P-40B. Also, look for build reviews. Some kits are fantastical engineered and go together like a dream, other will fly against the wall from frustration.

Personally, I've built a few of the newer 1/72 kits and not encountered too many issues; Phantom II, Spitfires, P-40's, F-35 beginners kit, off the top of my head. The latest were the Lightnings, F2A and F6. Lovely kits, no notes

Good to hear about Airfix recovering their reputation. I built a 1/24 P51 in the 1990s that was a mess, last kit I've even considered from them, until reading this.

My RAF Flight Sargent father introduced Airfix kits to me in 1956. Yes they were crude in the start but are a stable start to any prospective modeller today, and I still build them although I am 77 on Monday coming!
