AMT ERTL Millennium Falcon Build

Well, I've started my first build in over 30 years.
I'm hoping to find a couple of hours each week to get work done on it.
I'll keep this thread updated.

Not going to do anything fancy with this one, just build it straight off the plan.
Getting my hand in again, and trying to stop the jitters when I'm painting the detail

It can be built into a decent-looking model straight out of the box. Just be patient with her.
This thing's over forty years old (from the original kit)

The cockpit seating.
I need some finer brushes

I also see a bit of plastic I should have cleaned off, and a couple of brush marks in spots they shouldn't be.

Maybe a new set of glasses before the finer brushes
As for the paint, I'm just using old craft paints for the moment and a couple of Tamiya colors

I had to tear the plastic off it.
I also have the cutaway version in the cupboard along with along with the old MPC Falcon kit
All these will be practice before I get the Bandai kit

Aaaahhhh yes the submarine hatch Cockpit Bulkhead/
I actually had a bout 4 goes at painting this so it's super thick with paint and looks dodgy as heck.

Ha ha , Yep ! It's a great tool .
Pretty good though considering how super tiny all that is . Literally fingertip size .

I thought I'd have a go at scratch building an instrument console.

Looks a lot better than the absolutely nothing that AMT/Ertl/MPC decided to put there.
Kudos for giving them something to work with

Cockpit needs that 2nd back panel you showed. Pretend the kit part never existed.
Control panel is looking a lot better than I ever did with mine back in the day

I got my gray coat down.

I used to glue it together now and paint the detail once assembled.
Does anyone else do it different?

Some of the parts are much easier to paint before assembly.

That's what I was tossing up on because of the limited space inside once assembled.
I have a week off work this week so I'm going to try and get a bit done
