Apollo's Viper Mk.VII - 1/32, Moebius

Nice work there Solander. Great quality as always. I would like to learn more about lighting these and other Sci-Fi models.

Thank you very much, gentlemen!

I'm growing on building the newly released Revell 1/500 Star Trek Into Darkness Enterprise soon, and there I'm planning on both making a full build-log videos from the beginning to the very end + I am going to use every single thing I now about lighting the models to create an uber-lighting for this ship with running and navigational lights, windows lit up, engines with plasma-pulsation simulation and so on.
But while all these are just plans yet, I would highly recommend You Grendel's Lighting Tutorials: http://www.scalemodeladdict.com/index.php/topic,4881.0.html I find them absolutely outstanding on all the aspects. As far as I know, Grendels is running a tutoring-services company, and teaches himself, and that really feels while watching his vids. If I knew nothing about lighting models before watching his tutorials, I would most certainly have a successful model-lighting experience after learning from them.

Don't you just love bsg models?

They are really good indeed.
To be honest I can't say I am not facing any difficulties finishing them at all, but these are just the minor ones, so I would recommend those to any one who loves BSG and modeling or even better both.

Now, on the latest progress: I have done 4 things so far
- applied the decals
- added some additional small scratches here and there by hand (mostly near the panel lines)
- done slight postshading with a very dark almost black acrylic paint.
- and finally made some fading with white and a very little bit of sierra-blue oil paints.

Now all the progress is sealed with another layer of future, and my next step is going to be applying of a couple of washes.
It would be quite soon till calling it done after that.

Weathering is looking pretty good, although the Galactica's folks didn't use the kill markings.

Thank You, Q!
Yes, remember that. Pegasus CAG even even gave Apollo his complains that they didn't keep the proper fighting spirit on Galactica.
I however decided to use them, and even consider adding some to my Mk. II, as I really like how they add a story behind the model, similar to the weathering. Show that this craft and this pilot did see some action indeed, even for those who are not acquainted with the BSG series.

After a while, there won't be enough surface on the Viper to have all the kill markings the pilot needs (a few human pilots here, and a lot of cylon targets there !).

Thanks so much, YOULI, Jimi, G!

Managed to work on the bird till the completion this weekend, doing the rest of weathering with the MiG neutral and dark washes, some AK products, like rust streaking solution, welder solid pigments and finishing everything with a layer of semi-gloss lequer.

And here is the result. Hope you'd enjoy it, addicts ;)
