Chrome paint and Krylon clear issues - need advice, please

Has anyone tried Dupli-Color Perfect Match Chrome and their Perfect Match Clear Coat?

I have both a chrome Molotow pen and ACE Hardware spray paint that I use for "chrome" on items made with my 3D printer. Both work fine. However, when I spray them with Krylon Crystal Clear, they turn battleship gray. I've used Krylon Crystal Clear for many years and never had this happen. Is it something to do with whatever makes the chrome paint so shiny? Any thoughts?

I find it works great on fiddly bits that will not be handled.

But as soon as you touch it, gloves or no, it's wrecked. And as mentioned, it loses something under a clear coat. Hence, my quandary. What to do with these bumpers? No air brush as of yet.

I used household bleach to strip the parts. Worked fine but can leave the sticky lacquer layer. The door handles and mirror are add ons.

Brush on as with chrome pen. No primer. Most times I use chrome pen on chrome areas of oleo struts of aircraft since they're already painted white or whatever color the subject calls for.
