LOL. Thanks guys. I added it thinking it would lighten the color a bit...LOL. It actually did change the mix though, instantly got kinda foamy.

Mmmm, I saw that fig when I searched for the RPGs ... this is a nice one! look at the hat of the guy... ;D he could even add a foreign-volunteer presence in the dio, that hat could come from a pashtu ? a chechen ?

I fully understand the need to put a limit to the budget involved to a project... Scott, I believe that you could easily add this guy later, at least by now I think that there´s enough space around...

Nah...I mean a loose one, I am sure I have a few in my stash, will have a look and shoot one in the mail to you.

I looked at sets, thought the Masterbox set if the Iraqi insurgents came with one, but I guess not....missed opportunity on Masterbox's part there!!

just been playing catch with all the great progress so far,

i must say your base and groundwork is top notch, one problem i often faced using DAS clay was it cracked when it dried did you come across this too ? And if so how did you advoid it ?

The figures are very good too, and i know what you mean about not going totaly mad with the budget, i think you got plenty of great elements going in the diorama as is. The figures have a good narritive and tell a strong story. Any how you could always add another figure in the future if you think it will add to the scene

Thanks guys! Got this build portion of the base complete. Next up is paint.

Tonight I added 'stucco' to the front side of the wall. Simply Plaster of Paris and water. I troweled this over my glued on paper templates. I've decided to leave the rear of the wall as-is. Simply concrete blocks.

I also added a few busted rebar using paperclips (the kind that have a winding 'ring' around the circumference), and a few bullet holes too. I'll add more bullet holes after paint, chipping back to this base color.

I took a few pics of the pavement as well (made with DAS clay). I found it hard to get the correct exposure so I"ve pumped the levels in the pick so you can see the texture. As you can see it's far from flat. I added cracks and stippled the entire surface, plus embedded tank tracks (as though a heavy machine rolled over this on a really hot day).

That's it for today. Hopefully start painting tomorrow.
