Watched this the other day and just happened to have a '61 Impala kit that I have had for years sitting on the shelf...without glass or chrome parts. So I put the word out on a couple boards and started building it.

The story behind this race car is a good one...taken stock, off the showroom floor to Silverstone, to race against Jags and Volvos in the precursor race to Formula 1 big events. Gurney was tops in F1 at the time and wanted to beat the MKIIs other F1 drivers were driving to victory every time. He ran in one race, was leading by 2 full seconds with 2 laps to go when his left rear tire came off the hub...The next year, after some shenanigans with the stewards and other drivers the BSCC (British saloon car Championship) banned the car..he sold it there and then to a guy who swapped out the 409 for an inline 6 and used it as a tow/farm car...the video above tells the rest of the story. It's back in the states now owned by Dan's son.
Anyway...

Found a close body colour match in my stock as well as wheels, tires, a complete engine, and decals...

Need to swap out the tri carb and intake for a 4 barrel and change the generator for an alternator...should have the parts.
