You will do fine. It's a relatively simple process. Just make sure any seams or edge barriers (I use acetate sheets) are sealed with clear silicone (or clear epoxy)
Example:
In the picture he uses foam and epoxy. as an edge barrier. I prefer acetate sheets (which i glue on with Elmers white or Aileen's glue) and silicone as it will peel off easier that the epoxy.

The buildings are old kits my friend slapped together, misaligned too much glue..... I had to take them apart re true the edges and reassemble them, scroll back and you'll see.
The houses, drug store, restaurant and one of the buildings are scratch builds.
