Those slats that go on to of the aircraft Leading Edge Extentions are to break up the airflow before it hits the Vertical stabilizers. We call them LEX Fences. They were a Canadian inovation. On the starbord (right) side underneath there is the ECU which as a Tech I changed out a lot.
