Turn it into a low rider man... you know... the one with the zebra skins on the dash and the dingle balls and painted on the side Love Machine! :)

Told the wife about this and she laughed. No lowrider machine here, for that I would need a 72 impala...

John Tamiya kits are the best built out there dont worry about the year as they still make kits from the 70s and they go together really well.

You should have little to no fit issues on it :) i cant wait to see it light up that will be cool

Thanks Spud!

Sweet entry G!! It doesn't change into a robot...right? ;D Can't wait to see you have at it!! ;)

Nope. That won't fit my plans, but it does give me an idea for a video.....

Geeee thanks for doing this kit, I did not know it existed, I had this car. Unfortunately, I was in a bad wreck in it, I have a funny story about this car. When I acquire this kit, I will do a build, and explain the situation. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Looking forward to it. I got this kit off of Evilbay a few years ago for next to nothing....

Cool John. I had an ex-girl friend who drove one of these back in 84'. She took off to Texas with my High School ring...solid gold back then....weighed like 6lbs. Can you get it back for me because at $1600.00 an once that buys a lot of Tamiya Extra Thin.

LOL! If I ever see her..... Texas is one big state!

A little carpet... some scratch build fuzzy dice and crushed slurpie cups in the floor board... or far more evil than that?

<---Thinks there is something more sinister (going back and re-watching your scorch test videos).

Got some work done this weekend:

Parts with primer:

Don't know where that legendary Tamiya fit is, these seats are horrible:

That little grey cylinder is the head rest. This car did not have the head rest and the seat as one piece, so I cut it off and will put it back on with some steel braids.

Nice to see some primer going down G!! Tough bid on the seats...but you seem to have it under control!! ;)

Nice one! reminds me of the time we went on a vacation trip with some friends in a prelude! We got about 200km before it fatally broke down. We went home by train. Shortest vacation ever!
I am certain this Prelude will do a lot better! ;D

Great cars, mate of mine had one that I've thought about recreating, including his patented structural spiders and load bearing cobwebs.

Will be keen to see hoe this one comes together.

I had a VW bug like that, it had couch cushions for seats in the back.

Yeah I didn't seam to have any trouble with them. I still have scratch a few parts for the seats, adjustment handles, and the seat belt holders just to name a few.

primer already ;D

Yep but no where near as far along as your build.

I wouldn't count on that. When I am done with her you might have a different opinion....

Looking great, John I know you can work your way out with the seats :D

I pretty much have. But I can't work on this until Friday, and then only for a short time. So don't expect much progress between now and a couple of weeks from now. Vacation time hits on Saturday, the family is going on a trip so no model building for me!

Looks like you're at least off to a good start.
Although you forgot to include the link to your update when you posted this.... :p

I fixed it for you, though

Missed this one at first, sorry, G.
To tell the truth I can't say that auto is a completely unusual category for You, buddy, but I'm just used that during SMA BSC we are in the same pool, buddy - I'm already thinking about jumping with my second build into cars not to ruin the good tradition ;) ;)
And I also can't help admiring your good star - this one looks way more manageable in terms of a deadline then a giant mega-detailed rocket launching base.
Will be watching this wip with interest, and best of luck, man :)

Thanks Solander, and yes, I thought about missing out on the competition between the two of us when I started this build. But this one is something I have thought about for a couple of years now, and I thought it was time to get it out....

I will finish up the Mercury 9 and get it into the all open category for this year. It needs about 15 hours of work to finish, and I have the time to do that. So expect it there.

Sorry but I have to pull the part two video from YouTube. I am on vacation right now, and more than one of my viewers has commented that there are privacy issues with it. Don't worry I will get it up again by Friday when we get home.

Opps made a mistake....
