How do you know what paint to use on my model

What part is this and where does it go? It's in the CH-47A Chinook instructions but it does not say where it goes after you build it.

Okay,,,, is this the correct spot? The side of the fuselage with the door? IF you look really hard you can see a vent for the heater next to the door....

Id the heater between the two bulkhead things? so I should put the heater in place first or the bottom floor with the bulkheads? I like this picture of it.

I need a better understanding of the orange paint on the front windshield like a front-on view.

Can you guys tell where a part like this heater is located just looking at the diagrams somehow? I am afraid I will stink as a modeler...

how did you know it was a heater unit?
I think I'm going to count the rivet holes to see where the orange starts on the front of the CHInook. Is that a good idea? I really want this paint pattern with the orange. My orange is a lot lighter on a piece of coated paper... I'm going to go look for white primer and put on several coats. I need tape too... Anyone recommend tape?
