IAR 81C- building the 1/48 Icaerodesign resin kit

Thanks, guys! I have been MIA on this thread- my apologies. I've managed to go through a couple of tries on a new instrument panel assembly and I've finally gotten it right- now all I need is the time to make up a new post. I've gotten a jump on the engine, built an assembly jig and some other stuff, so I'm ready to move forward. Stay tuned, and thanks again!

Thanks, Tailor- here ya go!

I've run through some rough patches on this build- but perseverance pays off. Not even a vamp like Magda can trip me up!

Great project, Chuck! I have completely missed this, but I've been wondering what you were up to. As always, your builds are very instructive to me. And nice job on the new girls. They remind me of Warbird Pinups (http://www.warbirdpinups.com/index.php) You should put a calendar together.

Thanks, gents!

Here's the latest update- maybe not a whole lot has gotten done, but I will reveal my latest progress and discoveries. Take it away, Lili!

Well, it's been a while- we've been dealing with personal issues, some good, some not so good. We had our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary- good! My brother-in-law's 60th birthday- good! Some dear family members in ill health- definitely not so good. My wife and I are hanging in there- think good thoughts for our mothers if you feel so inclined- thanks! In the meantime, I have been stealing a moment here and there at the bench, and having fun with this elegant little project.

Another great update Chuck. I really enjoy following along with the process of your builds.

Thanks, guys!

Dumb things happen in the best of families, or so they tell me. Read on!

Great to see the next installment, Chuck! That is some fine brass-work there, the engine looks great!

Thanks, Baron! I have no pic of a fully-uncowled airframe, but I figure I'll just display the foreward cowl on scale sawhorses- I've gotta show off that beautiful crankcase!

Thanks, guys! Well, ComicCon is done and in the bag, so I can get back to modeling. I have sneaked in a few hours here and there- the rings for the crankcase cover housing have been bent, any way. I've decided to go ahead and stick the front cowl on, but leave the sheet metal off the housing to show off that beautiful resin crankcase. It's artistic license- I have no photos, but I'm willing to take a chance! More pics Sunday if I can swing it- cheers!

Looking forward to it.

As a side question - How did the book sales go at SDCC? Do you still have any copies left?

Jason

Thanks, Jason- once I get my shipping supplies in line I will open my webstore. Yee-HAW!! ;D

Whoa! An update at last! Marina is beside herself with excitement- read on!

Again, my hat is off to you, Chuck! I am impressed by your fine soldering work. I am no good with a soldering iron at all--I've come close to turning 54mm figures into piles of slag trying to attach pieces with solder. That cowl frame is just so darned impressive to see!
