Yup… Always make it a habit to use enamel gloss clearcoat before decal sessions. Then spray another coat of clear - flat or gloss depending on the subject. The second coat will seal in the decals.

some people use clear varnish instead of clear enamel, any thoughts on that?

This is all i found in a rattle can and a name i know, is this the only option in a can?

That's fine .
It can be any clearcoat - acrylic or alkyd ( enamel )
