Solander's "Gungan Reaper" (AAT)

Thanks, John! :)
The base is made of stuff coming in one kit by "Green Stuff". Everything is on a sponge base already, I've just applied some white glue to the base, spray whater on the green stuff, put them together and correct the position of grass and stones while everything is wet. Super easy, but a bit costy - all together with the frame as well the base was about 30$

WOW !

Impressive result !

Your work on the scratching surface paid off ! It's superb !

And the diorama itself is impressive, a sponge did you said ? At this scale the problem is really the realistic way to put grass and vegetation. Some stuff are ready to use in Gamesplay stores, but cost an arm to get.
I have various way to do it, including using plastic plant for aquariums, or digging in sources like brooms or carpets :D

What you did is very inspirative (do that word even exist in english ? :D).

OK, now you have to do something simple, just to breathe and gain strength for the next "mission" :D

What about a simple kit, not even Star Wars... Stay in the mechs... A mecha... Gundam ? :D

Ziz it's more fun to wrap your mind around. This build came to mind at Wonderfest 09...I'm sure you remember it.

The star destroyer is toward the bottom of the page.

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that this guy used an electromagnet to assist in the levitation and then other magnets to stabilize it from spinning. No matter how he did it his results are so cool. Sol's Reaper is kick ass and is jaw dropping fixed or floating.

Yeah, I remember that. You can't see it in the pic but if you looked really closely at the build, you could see very fine threads at the nose and tail holding it in place. The opposing magnets in the kit and base created the hovering effect.

Thank you all for your compliments, gentlemen :)

Thanks, buddy.
To give some credits to the actual creators of the base for my tank, I'd like to clarify something, as I might have pointed some things not completely correct. You see, the base I've used is already premade, with all the grass, litle yellow flowers and stones e.c.t. already positioned and even glued in place. It is the exact stuff You can find in shops for miniature wargamers. My simple role was in forming the sponge everything is glued to (creating small hills and something like 'em and making some parts of it's side visible thus simulating a so to say "ground cross-sectioned"), gluing everything in place, brushing the grass and repositioning some of the stones for better appearance in my taste. I must say honestly, that I haven't worked with terrain for dios much enough to have appropriate skills for creating something like this on my very own from distinguished elements.

On the next build...
Unfortunately I have to disappoint You and all who are watching my build logs a bit, as this Sunday I'm leaving for an over a month-long business trip. I would try my best to stay in touch and regularly visit SMA, but my next project will start after April 15th.
The Big Spring Contest should be already running that time, and when I return I'll promise to jump in the fun of it with the head at once :)
I have already planed what I'm going to build, and I promise you, guys, this is going to be something you haven't seen yet (thats not literary - I really mean it, I haven't found anything on the same theme surfing over the internet yet).
But this is going to be a surprise (oh yes, I'm cruel, yesss ;D ;D)
Would tell you so far, that I'm going to partially leave my comfort zone for this year's Contest ;)

OK

Have a nice (business) trip !

Can't wait to know what you're planning for... A new challenge, for a new "chef-d'oeuvre" ;D

Awesome work Sol! You should be proud of that!

Have a safe trip and see you in April!

That base is definitely perfect. Completes the whole thing

Also thanks for the find on the droid figures in scale with it. I picked up a handful which I am going to use walking next to or in front of it in a diorma

Ah, the beautiful green grass of Naboo..... Getting crushed by an invading droid army!!! ;D

Great job, Sol, this has been a very enjoyable thread to follow. Looking forward to seeing what you've got for us in April.

Have a safe trip, buddy. :)

That's officially the best ever so far I
have seen in a build up of this!
Everything from the bottom up even the base
you should be mad proud of that, stunning
work brother!!!

I'm not going to say anything..... because I can't.
I am simply speechless!!!!
Marvelous fantastic work!
;D;D;D;D

Thanks, buddy! :)
I will for sure, but not sooner than next weekend - I'm currently not at home.
