I chose this because it's a 1/48 not a 72. 72 might be a little too small for me.I built the Bandai kit but not this one. Interested to watch your progress.
Yep.Ok, I did prime some cockpit parts for the Y-Wing. I suppose that counts as starting

I used the salt method on my watercolor paintings. It makes unusual patterns.I really shouldn't as I already have a few started. One I've been working on most lately is Planet of the Apes General Ursus from the 70's. I have till December to finish it for a birthday present. Most of my stash are Star Wars. I'll take a look and have to think about it. I also get slower the closer to completion I get, and I'm horrible at posting.
Another note on weathering, chipping from micro meteors, carbon scoring, and carbon marking by engines are all good. As was said before imperial are normally newer looking with less wear and tear, unless just came from battle. Rebels ships are normally much more beaten looks as they were always second hand or pieced together to operate. The Slave I typically has lots of chipping on it. One method I have heard of, but haven't had a chance to try yet, is dampen the area you want to chip and sprinkle salt and let it dry. Paint it and then rub the salt off.
Thanks for the info. Hope you join the build and not a problem if you start early or finish late as no real rules to follow. We sort of get there in the end...... maybe...... possibly...... eventually. PanthermanI really shouldn't as I already have a few started. Since you are doing the Slave I, some information I came across a few years ago, if I remember correctly the studio models had 13 colors. I assume that would include the weather colors used. For informational purposes more than anything. Thanks for the info. Hope you join the build and not a problem if you start early or finish late as no real rules to follow. I need to finish the huey probably a week away at least. But happy to go with what everyone is OK with. PanthermanMy kit will be here on Sunday. Do we have a start date? I wouldn't be able to start until Tuesday.
Yes, indeed. It's bigger than I thought. It's big enough to put lighting in, but I'm not going to do that.Nice easy one after the Texas.
Lighting is a challenge as you have to think about every build step beforehand just in case you need to cut something away or add something to hide wire's.Yes, indeed. It's bigger than I thought. It's big enough to put lighting in, but I'm not going to do that.
Nope. I just order some rice lights. So I'm going to attempt lighting the cockpit... maybe.
Thanks, I like challenging models.Lighting is a challenge as you have to think about every build step beforehand just in case you need to cut something away or add something to hide wire's.
Great fun though. Pantherman
I learned alot from our fellow members. Now have an electronics drawer, who would have thought as a complete numbty when it comes to circuits and the rest. PMThanks, I like challenging models.
