Tamiya Brewster B 339 Buffalo....Midway style

Sounds good ! ...I got a Spit to tackle now :)

Chris.

The finish line is straight ahead. Did some weathering on this with Tamiya pigments, oil filters with Grumbacher Artist oils, and a small amount of Prismacolor pens for some minor touch ups. My hands some times don't listen to what my brain tells it to do so I ended up snapping the antenna rod while cleaning it up. I also found out that during construction I accidentally broke off the small antenna connecting rod that's on the top of the tail. First the large rod that sticks up tall on the hood behind the cowling. That is another LED lead that was about the right diameter as the piece I busted. I may yet need to trim the height down a wee bit. The tail rod will also be a length of LED lead trimmed to fit. That's currently drying from being painted and didn't make this round of pics. I'm thinking of toning down (pulling off) some of the darker pigment around the cowling and the panel lines behind it. Comments always welcome boys.

So after I'm finished with the antenna rods I'm going to string up some stretched sprue for the clothes hanger line. Lastly is the famous Model Masters Flat Clear Coat to pull it all together. I'm thinking Sunday night as that is my next day off from work that I can get some bench time....or should I say airbrushing time. No AK stuff on this as I did 99% of the weathering before it showed up at my doorstep.
That's it for now. Night night kids.

Anthony !! ..WOW ....Dont change a thing mate ,she's puuurfect :) radial engined birds noramlly do get discolouration behind the cowl ,due to the fact there is a big hot exhaust ring in there and also when they were fired up you got quite a bit of smoke .To me she looks bang on .Finish up the ariels and dont change a thing . I love it ;)

Looking good! Brushing on Future rather than spraying actually works quite well as you discovered.

One question. How are you going to do the flat coat without mucking up the clear parts? The finish is where I always run into issues. I'd be afraid I was going to ruin the clear parts without them being masked

Thats what I was thinking...?
Anyway this looks awesome mate, top notch stuff. Great.

ShutterAce, MJ it was a bit tricky but not impossible. I used a 3x5 index card as a shield while AB my flat coat. Just be very careful around the cockpit.

And the church bells have rung! Last thing is the ariels which is giving me little fits as I can't get the sprue to stick to the LED leads with CA. I'm thinking a bit of white glue instead so what do you guys think? These are the pics of this bird I shot over the weekend before the clouds moved in. Have to say I enjoyed this build. The masking of all the windows was no joy but the work was worth it. Thanks again guys for all the comments along the way.
I'm gonna play with some of those AK products for a while to see what their like. So without further adieu....Buffalo Wings!

Thanks JMac, Chris....you guys make a not-so-middle-aged guy blush. Yeah Chris it was a fun build. I'm slowly getting the hand of this modeling thing. And what's more I'm really enjoying the hobby. It most definitely doesn't kill my wallet unless I truly want it too. Supply costs aren't unreasonable and I get a kick of checking out everybody else's builds and see how they do things. Lots of help on these boards which is a huge plus as well as the positive encouragement.
As for what's next I'm uncertain. I'm eyeballing a Minicraft 1/48 P-38J Lightning USAAF that is currently on sale at Megahobby. Also considering an Avenger but I think that gunners turret looks daunting at the moment. I have an X-wing more then half-way done that needs my undivided attention. That was part of a group build at SSM with our beloved Mr. Girven. He and Tyler finished, I did not.....oh' the shame!!! Oh. and I have a Kinetic 1/48 Prowler on the queue but that's in the fall. Overall I'm not really sure what's next. I can tell you that I thought about it at work today and want to do something. I'll sleep on it and will let you know. Thanks again my friend. Always a pleasure chatting with you. Be well,
Anthony

Cool. If you're taking suggestions, considering how the Buffalo weathering turned out (pure wickedness), I'd think seeing the X-wing finished up would be very very cool.
