Tamiya m41 walker bulldog

Didn't like the way this tarp was settling so I added a little piece over the old one... Made it settle a bit more natural.

Started construction on the gun cover brackets... Not sure it'll work as planned but I'll give it a go.

Well it didn't quite work as planed... I wanted to cut the to size with a Shar blade, and off they went in every direction....

Now I'm bending one at a time and I'll cut them one at a time.

At first I thought the clamps and the rod for the gun cover sat on top of the fabric. Then I thought the rod was attached to the hull and only the clamps held the fabric.

Finally I realized that the rod was attached to the clamps and that there must be a rod in the fabric of the gun cover as well.

Anyway I tried uploading the images in the correct order to kinda illustrate my troublesome journey...

That failed as well...

So here are all the images in random order... Lol

I managed to build the clamp, then take it apart cuz I thought the rod was welded to the hull, only to realize that both the gun cover and the clamps har a rod... So I clued the rod to the hull, and added some more paper towel. Now I have to slide alle the clamps onto a new rod... For the 3rd time...IMG_20210712_002155.jpg

Not really...

I just went on looking after I started building...

Guess my research wasn't good enough.

For some reason my phone won't let me attach the images I have lol... But I do have some clear images...

The part you linked to, I'm aware of... I just don't think it's very good, and I'm not willing to pay such a steep price.

I'd rather scratch it

I just post it as reference -- You know my feelings on scratching your own chit ! :D
I know...

Didn't mean to be rude... I was just annoyed that my phone didn't wanna do as I wanted it to.. Lol

Sorry...

Anyway, it's the journey not the destination. I mean when this thing is finished I'll put on a shelf and most likely not look at it for a long time... Maybe.

So I guess I'll go back enjoying scratching while TNG is running in the background.

LOL - I didn't see anything rude there .

Do you have images of the real cover from above ?
I was just looking thru google images .
Most of the photos of the mantlet cover are of 1/35 models .

Yeah I've seen some... And I'm aware that they're sown in a very specific way, and that they have several rods on the top and at the bottom. But I kinda ignored that because I found some images where that wasn't the case... Of course I didn't download them.

In the end the thing to do here would be to start over, remove all the cloth, glue 5 or 6 rods in place, reapply the fabric and move on...

Not sure I'm ready for that tho.

We'll see.

Added the first cun cover bracket.

I decided to replace the plastic footsteps with wire.

Fabrikated some rope and wire from electrical cord.

Finally got this gun cover brackets finished.

Looking forward to lay down a primer, to see if this gun cover actually works and looks the part... Or all this is for nothing.

Thanx for looking.

Trying Mr. Finishing surfacer 1500...

Amazing stuff.

I'm pretty satisfied with the tarps and the gun cover... It could have benefitted from more wrinkles in certain places... But the crew had some particular bad weed that day...
