Looks great! The color looks very nice on her and the clear will darken it a bit like you mentioned. Did you have to mix the batch to make that color?
Yes, started with XF-50 as the primary color, added light grays to make it "grayer" but then had to add dark grays to make it darker, and them more blues to make it bluer. Just an eyeball thing, no science behind it.

I allowed the clear to harden overnight and into the afternoon. Started applying some brown and very dark gray washes, as well as some light gray highlights that are like a drybrush thing just too wet to call it that.

Trying to keep it on the subtle side, yet still represent the wear and tear of a tour of duty in the Pacific.

Is it just me, or the Texas is an intimidating ship to paint? I still can't get myself to start spraying the deck. I'm afraid its going to be too dark, too light, too blue, or too gray.

My masks arrived.
