BF109 F-2 (1/48)

Thanks Flipflop ...& ...Jason :)

Got busy with the paint ;D

I chose this camo scheme as it looked like a bit of a challenge ....which it was ! .Its a bit different from the usual in the fact that it uses RLM02 on the upper sufaces which is normally only seen on the interior. I have been looking at a number of references for the paint and some refer to the splinter pattern on the wing as being a 'soft' edge pattern ..Possibly feild applied ? ...anyhoo ,thats what I decided to go for .
This is the first time I've tackled such an intricate pattern on a fuselage and I'll be the first to admit its by no means perfect ,but it was good practice .

All the seperate panels were painted too ....

The underside is painted too ,it looks grey in the pics ,but it is light blue ,I need to do a few little blow ins at the rear end and also forgot to cover the wheel wells so I need to fix them too ::)

But overall its not too bad ....I hope ???

Thanks for looking .

Chris.

Wow Chris. I'm stumped on how you get such awesome results with your AB. You Sir, have hands of gold.

That's a crazy looking scheme Chris. You're a brave man. ;D
The top surface soft edges look great, not overly fuzzy. Freehand or a soft mask?

keep it going.

Jason

Thanks a lot guys :)

Jason ,all the camo was freehanded aprt from the top of the fuselage which was taped to get a straight edge .

Chris.

Wow... I really Dig the Camo !! Super Slick ! Free hand hey ? nicely done.. not much room for mistakes !

retouches would be unthinkable !!! well for me !

later big guy !

is there anything you don't build ??? LOL !

See you around !

:) Beautiful, Chris, can´t say much more... the painting & camo schemes are terrific...
´
I love the yellow band: it adds a lot of chromatic contrast with the "dead" colors of the camo schemes.
´
A winner, Chris
Cheers, man ;)

Hi chaps ,

I think I found the only bad point in this kit .....The Decals :( ! i got all the decaling done ,which wasnt easy as they are very very thin & brittle ,However I got them all done and left the 109 to sit for a day or so . When I went back to it I found this ...........?????

DSCF4890.jpg

Nice huh !! I've never had this happen before ,so Im kinda lost as to what happened ,I didnt even use Sol on them just water . ??? ???

Check this one out ,I just blew on it and bits went everywhere ...

DSCF4891.jpg

It seems to be just the crosses that have came apart ,but Im going to get an AM set and replace the whole lot ,I dont want to chance leaving the other decs in place ...just in case .
So ,as soon as I have some decs I will get this moving again .....Sorry folks .

Chris.

Hey Jim ,

I was talking to some one earlier about it ,apparently its a lack of clear on the decal ,the manufacturer either didnt put it on ,or not enough ! Oh well ...lesson learned eh !

Chris.

Hmmmmm...

So now we may have to start thinking about shooting a clear over our decs' before we use them? ::)

Oh' no!!!! Man this has been the year of the bad decals. I know one thing for sure Chris....you are the guy that can fix this and make them look better then the kit decals.
Man I feel your pain.

Anthony
