BIG RIG RAT

I really enjoy the look of aluminum peaking through chipped paint. I'm not sure what these cabs are made of, but I'd choose a similar metallic colour, age it a tad then paint and chip. Or paint and chip and age/weather after words. Doesn't matter either way. It would be a nice offset to the crusty rusty frame. :)

Zactamundo! Its just to decide on a color. Something to contrast the rusty brown frame.

Yellow would be cool....but..the engine is gonna be heavily weathered yellow.

I also might have an accessory for this that would look cool in yellow.

So..blue? Green? Black? White? A nice graphic/logo on the side would be cool too. Chipped and all.

Here are some crappy pics I took at noon. A bit of a mockup, and the problem I have with the radiator....

The grill will be backed with PE mesh.

Looking really good! In terms of the rad, is there any way to drop it in-between the frame and make brackets for it?

That would also lead to the next question, are you going to chop the grill to lower it?

No, the rad won't fit between the rails - the fan is another reason it can't lower. The pulley that the fan is on is right where it is in this mockup.

As for the grill...going for something like this:

or this

Gonna grab some pics of this mockup, but with the full engine mockup. It is actually larger/taller than just this block.

---although adam, you might have an idea there. I could use the rad off of another car...with an electric fan and just tuck it in there. Mechanically I might need the large radiator, but not sure. I'd love to just put the big honkin fan on the front of this cat engine though...for looks. deadly.

Well, couldn't you scratch two smaller rads and put them somewhere else on the ride? I'm thinking about the way they do it with race cars. They need so much cooling power but not enough space under the hood.

P.S. I really like the look of the slanted grill.

Maybe...not much room anywhere else though...not if I'm gonna have 2 seats in this thing.

I don't know if I need 2 rads. Gonna see what a I have in my small but growing spares box. Time to jet. Back later.

I just looked up the word LOW in the dictionary and there is picture of your truck in there. ;D

If you want to chip the paint back to alloy ,I'd use a darker colour of top coat for a good contrast ,maybe Blue, Green or Black , Dark Red ? ...up to you ,but the chipping wouldnt show up to well on ..say White .

Looking at the pics again ,you might need to chop that Rad ,Id mount it inside the grille surround and scratch a new fan & plumbing :)

Chris.

Cool. Thanks for helping with this.

Here's the kit of the rad and stuff...

And it can easily be mounting on the front of the frame. This wouldn't be the final angle or height...but I just leaned it up there.

And then had to take one of these 'hero' shots.

Here is a Cummins powered rat rod producing 700 hp. I know it's not a big rig but just wanted to show that a large radiator is not necessary. Love the stance of this build Scott. Super Wicked!!!

Cool. What a beasty beauty! Thanks man.

I gotta say that what I love, love, love about a Peterbilt is the big square nose. Just love seeing them barrel down the highway (as long as they are not directly in front of me). I really want to use that big square grill. I dig the 'rat rod' slant, but really don't mind that big box out front.

You'll notice I have removed the headlights from the grill...but will be using them again too.

I totally understand Scott. That big ol' grill says "I'M BOSS" ;D

I"ll be using the horns, lights on roof, the large cylinder filters, wide door mounted mirrors. A real hybrid.

...the child only a mother could love...lol.
