Here is the first video of Desslok's command cruiser. I am building this one while Nelly works on her Corvette. Have no fear, I am still working on the Brakiri cruiser. I cut 15 little brass pins for it tonight. Update on it soon.

Hey, great little kit here, John! You even inspired me to look for some of that tv show stuff over at youtube :)

P.S: in the end of the video, isn't that Texas you are driving over? I've been to US a pair of times so far, both times in Houston, and what I remember from driving a rental car there is 100% matching what I'm seen here, lot's of memories :)

It's mike the tv. :D

You love those kits with an incredable amount of seams don't you. ;)

Really sorry to see all of those seams, john.
Makes my work on the Yamato seem trouble-free

I guess that after the seamsilla any seam is a peace of cake for John. Onlly to borders and some aves are required ;)

Yes the driving clips are from Houston. This one is near the Galleria, River Oaks area. The more wealthy side of town.

Next time you are in Houston, if I have the time, I will drive down and we can meet for lunch or dinner. That would be a blast.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to spot out Mike the TV. That was a great series, just got the whole thing on DVD.

Seams: Yes this thing has bad seams, but after that 747 model, and then Godzilla and the golden one, these seams are nothing. I pretty much have them done now. Just a bit of touch up work and I can start to put the components together. Painting will be fun! I want to give pre-shading a try. I did it with Mothra, and liked the results. The panel lines on this one are begging for it!

Solander: I actually used 5 different methods to fill those seams. The video should be up in a few days. I need to give this one, and then Nelly's upcoming segment time to be digested by the YouTube audience first. If I put up too many videos too fast, they don't get watched.

Cool! I've only seen Season 1 of Star Blazers. Don't remember it too well, but those ship battles were the best in anime for their time.

Looking forward to that seam filling comparison too! :)

LOVED star blazers when i was little but i tried to watch some recently and it was really dated and the animation was really poor. but yeh the battleships are awesomeness!

Oh, God! it was just of the wall!!! I've made my guess only because its the only big US city I've visited personally yet, and actually I don't remember the details at all: lots of impressions, and after visiting the NASA complex I have completely lost my head, so... Man, I can say I've found a mare's nest ;D

That would be a real pleasure of meeting You in person,John. You bet: next time I travel to Houston You are the first to know about it))

Guess I must buy an orange SMA tongue and wear it each time I'm enroute abroad - seems there is at least 1 SMA member in each city of the world :)

P.S: overall it is a great idea of You I think to make such small oftopical video-excursions on your surroundings in the end of the video. I think everyone here have come to the SMA in search for something new, and for exchange, to gain and share and not only on the scale models. It is great to see a person behind those great models, and what surrounds him, as I always say that surroundings are one of those things leading to inspiration and expression methods. Maybe I'll shoot something like that for my next stardestroyer's update.

Please do make a short video of your trip, or any outing. It is nice to see some of the surroundings where other people live. I think I am going to include clips like these in most of my future videos. Kind of like a blog, with model building. One warning I will give to my viewers is that Nelly brings out my silly side, so expect some off the wall comments. I am glad that you like those clips.

Great vid! Looks like I started my putty work on the Maquis raider too soon.

That glazing putty is something I've seen on a couple of youtube vids. Will be interesting to see it in use.

Looking forward to more.

Yeah Grendels, I have had the same experience with the squadron putties.
Of course, at the time, I had no idea you could thin it down. It was also rather crumbly, and I guess I must have tried to sand it too quickly. Thanx for your informative vids.
;D

Looks like, you had to tame the same seam lines like I with the Avia B.35 :)) They seems familiar :)
Have you ever tried Vallejo Putty? Bought it a few days ago and it seems like to be very good. I could hand it with fingers and it is super fine. I have no really experience with it until today, but its more comfortable than Revells putty

Great video John! Lots of usefull information there. My tube of white dried up in a matter of a couple months. The green on the other hand, is still going strong a few years later.

Chiefpettyofficer: I don't have any Vallejo putty and my LHS doesn't carry Vallejo products. I placed an order for some Vallejo paint with them a few weeks back, and they told me it was on back order. This is along with some Mr. Dissolved putty, and more Mr. Surfacer 500. The Mr. Dissolved putty won't get here in time for this video series.

The Vallejo putty and the Tamiya putty are something I need to give a try too.

Fumblethumbs: The drying problem is one reason I don't like Squadron putty. It just loved to dry up in that tube.

The next installment won't be up until this weekend.
