Hello folks, time for another update...with plenty of photo's! I'm determined to put this never-ending masking hell behind me so I've been hitting it quite hard for the last few days, and i'm happy to say that the entire secondary hull has been finished! At last!! Here's the final masking layer applied all over the hull:
After a couple of (very theraputic!) hours of peeling, all the masks were gone and I went around and finished the odds and ends by hand:
Then I turned my attention back to the trench covers on the pylon wing. Now, I had made my own cover details to go here a while ago, but I wasn't very happy with them and was a bit stuck as to how to tackle them. Then, my fiancee ordered the photo-etch phaser details from DLM and, as an extra b'day prezzie from Don himself, a set of the photo-etch covers came in the package for free! How cool is that?! So I put them to good use!
The parts from Don are designed to cover the trench created to bury the wires running up to the nacelles and are naturally a little longer than the actual details on the 6footer. As I covered the entire rear wing there was no trench to cover so I cut the parts down to the proper size, primed, painted and stuck them in place...sorted! Here's how that went:
Then the whole thing was given the same misting the saucer was given to pull the tones together, the main impulse mask came off and the deflector finally saw the light of day for the first time in months! I've plucked a few windows to have a quick look, theres some damage around a few windows that need to be fixed but nothing fatal:
And, just for fun, here's the saucer pushed on just to get a flavour of things:
Next up, more window plucking and the nacelle aztecing to finish
Cheers everyone
