Enterprise D - from "Generations"

I'm going cross-eyed just looking at it. So many aztecs. Very impressive Soong.

I'm speechless, man! Can't recall if I have ever seen anything at least a bit compared to such an aztec panneling

Dear Mr Soong.

Think of all that time you could saved by using decals.

Some of the best Aztec painting I have ever seen!

Wow, thank you! It's not without it's flaws but i'm really happy with it so far, I just hope the rest of the ship turns out just as well. Thanks bud :)

My eyes have crossed and un-crossed so many times it's hard to know which way is left sometimes! :p

Wow...again! Thanks Solander 8) Check out Ian Lawrence's (Raytheon) 1/650 Enterprise E...that thing is ridiculous! The aztec job he did on that is (in my opinion) unbeaten so far, go check it out

That's what all those sheets of paper are for...???!! Cobblers! I thought they were just for reference! :D

Thanks Dave (I think!?) ;) ;D

I couldn’t wait any longer to see how the lighting would look with the aztecs so I cracked on with the details around the captains yaught, painted the window recesses on the lower surface and painted the outer rim of the saucer

Then the whole lot got misted over with a light blue/grey to blend the tones slightly and give it a more blue-ish colour in general. The window masks are trickier to remove than I thought, took a couple of hours just to get half of the top surface masks off...! Quite a few have totally disappeared under the layers of paint and quite a few pulled up a bit more paint than they should, leaving slightly oversized windows. I’ll just have to go back over and touch up any bad spots, no biggie.

Anyhoo, here’s some unlit and lit shots

Again, cheers guys for all the great compliments.

 That's incredibly cool!

Gorgeous work on this Soong. All the detailing has come together nicely and those windows are super sharp!!

This is really coming togther well! Blending the aztecing with a light mist overcoat is key to a brilliant aztec job. The pics with the windows lit up are breathtaking. Top notch alround sir!

I finally finished unmasking all of the saucer windows, top and bottom. The thickness of the paint layers caused some damages around a few windows, mainly around the upper decks and bridge section so I’ll need to repair those, as well as generally touching up all over. Something I knew would be needed so no big drama. I’ve tried to replicate the way it’s lit onscreen so every lit window position matches the real miniature, except Picard’s quarters...I couldn’t leave those long windows unlit! I’ve probably got a few wrong but hopefully not many!

So here’s a quick look at how it looks right now (remember, the windows are in a raw “un-plucked” state)
