How do you know what paint to use on my model

Okay, but there's no AK...

KEY: AMMO = Ammo by Mig Jimenez (Acrylic); AV = Acrylicos Vallejo (Acrylic); GSI = Gunze Sangyo (Cxxx = Mr.Color Lacquer/Hxxx = Mr.Hobby/Aqueous Acrylic); HAT = Hataka (Axx = Acrylic/Cxx = Lacquer); LC = Lifecolor (Acrylic); MIS = Mission Models (Acrylic); MRP = Mr.Paint (xxx = Lacquer/Axxx = Acrylic); REV = Revell (32xxx = Enamel/36xxx = Acrylic); TAM = Tamiya (Xxx & XFxx = Acrylic/all others = Lacquer); TES = Testors (Enamel); XTRA = XtraColour (X = Enamel/XA = Acrylic)

EDIT:: here's the other part of the chart.

That's just fine... I didn't notice that comment about the hair brush lacquers. Now have two many options to choose from... How does hair brush primer stack up against the rattle can primer price wise?

It's not so much price, they're pretty much of a much, (is that actually a saying?), it's just the fact that if you don't get on with spray primers you can always apply some with a brush.

AK Interactive paint line came out a couple years ago or so. Your chart is an older conversion chart prior to AK Interactive.

I often use this chart religiously. Excellent cross reference to all paint lines out there with the exception of newer paint lines (Mission Models, AK Interactive)

https://www.paint4models.com/Paint Conversion Chart 2010-2021.pdf

*** Please note Gunze/Mr. Color 304 was formerly listed as Khaki Drab. Regardless, Olive Drab is FS34087 no matter the paint brand.

You will find multiple lines of certain Federal Standard (aka:FS) colors. All of them are correct but in different hues regardless.

I still don't see an AK.... ???

I guess I will have to just go by what Black Sheep recommends. I do rather like the Olive Drab Faded and might just use it and tons of coats of Luminous Orange in small places on the Fuselage. I can't wait to see what the USCM green looks like! I haven't been paid my allowance or my participation in rent and I cant buy the paint yet.

I can't thank you guys enough for al the help you area giving me.

You're welcome. Use whatever color you feel looks good enough in your eyes. I, myself would have used Faded Olive Drab as well if I was doing that kit.

Thanks BS214 (Black Sheep 214)I'm going to use the "day-glow-orange" (Luminous Orange) that looks like a hunter's vest as well as the Olive Drab Faded because they look good together. For some reason Olive Drab Faded is called Olive Drab Faded not Faded Olive Drab. LOL They just HAD to be different???

I just made a mistake yesterday. I was going to see how many coats of orange acrylic it took if I put lots of thin coats on the little wheel. I was also playing around with the Olive Drab Faded which is Lacquer. I didn't get all the Olive washed out all the way and I accidentally started using the Paint brush I had been painting Olive Drab to paint orange. Could that cause a problem adding orange to the wheel later?

You guys might like this set of videos of a man building a Chinook. I'm not exactly talented like this man in these 10 videos.

I accidentally posted the wrong video. Sorry about that.

Here is the correct one.
CHinook model 1/35 scale
