Haven't posted in a while, but have been busy working on this Tamiya Pony which was going spectacularly until an attempt to add some exhaust staining turned into what appeared to be a full on engine fire.

Fortunately someone gave me the same exact Tamiya P-51 for my birthday so the extra decals will be getting used.

As this was the first time I'd ever attempted to do a metallic finish I was really pleased with how it initially came out, but also learned some hard lessons when it comes to using Alclad laquer.

When it comes to learning from mistakes I've got a PhD.

I was very excited to get this from my lovely and thoughtful wife who said she wants me to do this one because it has the cool teeth decals. Whatever the reason , I'm all over it!

Lastly, I've been experimenting with making my own harnesses from scratch. For the P-51 I used thin strips of card-stock and for this Corsair I started working on last week (needed a breather from the Mustang) I used rubber electrical wire insulation sleeves cut into thin strips. Getting them to look realistic is a work in progress so I'm open to hearing any suggestions or ideas.

Amazing work.

You guys are light years better than I, so I might have to find a forum for 'plastic kit hack that slaps them together and paints like he was still 8 y/o'.

Love the pictures.

Be well. Model on.

Oh man you're in great company. I wouldn't list anything on here if I was worried about being judged. I'm a hack in training, but would've thrown in the towel a long time ago if it weren't for folks in this forum giving some encouragement and advice. No Olympics here…just a shared desire to do what we live to do and learn a little while we're at it
