Rookie ...Yes ,all freehand ,there's no option with this scheme

Jeff ...Academy kits are not too bad ,need a little work ...seams etc ,but not too bad ,I do recommend AM decals tho

Hi folks

Well ,I've learned a lesson with this kit ! : Next time I build an Academy aircraft I will bin the decals and get a good AM set . I went over the decals loads of times with stting solution and thought they had settled in pretty well ......Only to find once I Kleared them again the clear backing on the decal showed up again Bit annoyed ,but to late to do anything now ,Hopefully some weathering and a good Matt coat will disguise them a bit , in saying that ,they do look a lot worse in the pics .

Anyhoo ,As I mentioned ,I kleared the decals, then set to fading the paintwork a bit ,I didnt go over board here as I will be doing more weathering with the oils & AK which will lighten the paint further as will the matt coat . The fading doesnt really show up to well in the pics because of the Klear over the top of it in preperation for the weathering .

Thanks for the heads up Chris about the Academy decals. I have a couple or three of their kits in the stash, I'll try to look around for some after market decals for them. Looks like she is just about ready to finish up and put on the shelf.
