- Fubar,

Mig oils are a little pricey but there are very good, i got my tube a year ago and ive used it on every build scince and the tube is still more or less full, i would recommend picking up a tube in the future

-Spud, too right buddy

- Geegad, thanks very much for the kind words mate :)

- Wyoroy, thanks for your support bud

LL ,

Yeah Dude ! I really like how this came out. At first I was a lil' skeptical about th colors, but It works !! CHEERS for using th 'Ol school Dry Brushing ! It's really adds depth & looks Great ! Smokin' job on th weathering -chips etc !!

Dy-No-Mite job on th dashboard ! That Speedo is Spot-On !!

Keep on gettin it Brotha' !!

Mig and AK, Mig will have a wider range so ya have a good choice

- Panzerace, cheers for the support these are the normal paints i use for most of my german armor builds it seems to work well for me

just to echo what Spud said, Mig, AK and Vallejo are great brands for weathering, i prefer mig myself

cheers

Howdie all :)

have some progress to share ;D

been working on so far the most trickyist part of build to date, the fear bulkhead and hatch assmebly,
it is not becuase the parts are badly engineered but more so the sharp angles of the bulkhead make installing the interor fittings a hard and fiddly affair, i had to cut of the locator pins off the hinge bars to make it easier to install the doors, so a little pre-thought has to go if you aim to model the doors in the open position, after a hour on the bench i got the bulkhead assemblied ready for painting :)

hopefully ill get it painted up tomorrow at some point,

cheers

I take you can't open and close them like on the tamiya one then?

This pic shows how good your interior panel is......i have a hard time telling yours from the real thing.

Hey fubar,

thanks very much mate, sure if its not too bother post a few more up,
you never can have too many reference ;)

BUILD UPDATE

Today i got the rear buildhead painted up and some basic weathering, painted in the same method as the interior with a beige base and middlestone higlight. but the sharp angles of the bulkhead made brush painting tricky and a little trying at times :p

one thing i liked and i think it should stand out quite a bit is the fire extinguisher, the instructions call for flat red, but i went for a dark red flat was a little too bright for me lol

so after a spot chipping and few washes and filters, im happy with results

BUILD UPDATE: NEW IDEA

I was thinking of maybe putting the 251 as the centerpeice of it own Diorama. Havent done any large dio projects in some time now, and while at the bench a theme for one hit me. Was thinking of the halftrack halted outside a small rural house in the heart of the russian winter. And its froozen crew taking a moment to seek warmth in a building spared from the russians scorched earth policy.

Was thinking of at least 5-8 figures, including a pair of troops trying to break through a frozen lake beside the house to draw some water, and another trooper carring a stack of logs from a pile opposite the house for the stove within. and finaly a few officers standing in/or beside 251 plotting the next days march on a map and maybe a sentrie too

If i opt to go down this path, i feel i should model the launchers empty and folded in the travel position, as i feel having the wagon loaded with its full payload is out of character with the scene (i would like to know your veiws on that one !) or even have members of the crew in process of hacking up the empty wooden launcher crates for fuel ????

i would really like to know what you all think of this idea,

any feedback would be great :)

cheers,

shane

Sounds like an awesome idea mate, go for it.

The scenario of the crew chopping up their own gear for firewood is a great idea, and yeah i'd leave the lauchers in their travel positions if thats what you plan on doing. It would all fit with the idea of a crew on the move desperately seeking shelter from the elements.

LL ,

I like your Dio idea & th concept of them breaking up their expended Ammo crates for th fire is a Great one !! Desperation indeed !!

Speaking of the Radios .. here's a link that you may find helpful

- http://panzerfaust.ca/AFV%20interiors/germrads.html - scroll down picture 10 is of th 251 set up. It describes what every piece is - Radios transformers etc & shows how they are wired up !!

Do it!!!!!!!!!!

Love the idea Shane it all sounds good and like so it that would have taken place
