Sherman Easy 8 716 battalion

Got the model yesterday and just opened it up to take a look. This is the model that a friend wants me to build for him for his grandfather.







Its a Tamiya model and detailed as heck. I hope I can finish it in time for the birthday.

It even came with a figure for the tank commander.

Oops got the battalion wrong . It is actually the 761st battalion.

And speaking of that. Where can I go and get aftermarket decals for the various tank battalions of ww2. I can't seem to find any.

Got it mostly together. Just waiting for a calm day to airbrush the base coat on and place all of the tools on it.

I have never had to do so many wheels before. It was tedious removing the mold lines from 30 wheels.

I decided to brush paint the model. The weather is not cooperating for me to airbrush outside. All that's left is to put the wheels on finish some paint and stowage and to weather the model. I do believe it is looking good so far. However I cannot seem to find a color picture of the commander's hatch, can anyone help me with the colors for the inside of the hatch please?

Thanks for the pictures. It just seemed that the interior of the hatch and the periscope would be a different color to me.

I don't think you'd want the hatch interior painted white .
No advantage and plenty of disadvantage

True. I didn't think it would be white, but all I have for pictures are black and white ones. I was actually thinking grey or another dark color based off of the photo.

Yeah , B&W photos are of limited help .
They wouldn't add the expense of another paint color just for the hatch interior . Not when they had millions of gallons of olive drab

Now that is very true.

Digging thru photos on the laptop -- they all appear to be the same color as the exterior of the tank .
These look gray-ish , but so does the whole tank :

2 days of solid work has brought me to this point. The tank is close to being done. A little bit more mud effects and stowage will bring it to the done state. Oh and I need to put on the tracks almost forgot.

And for some reason my camera isn't focusing properly again, apologies for the out of focus pictures.

All that's left is to mount the tank commander in the open hatch and to varnish the model. Almost there and 8 days left before the birthday party. I painted the tank commander with oil paints , I forgot they take a couple of days to dry.

Now complete. Tank commander is in place and the model is varnished. Now I just have to deliver it.
