T34/76

;D ;D S'pose thats my fault again ::) Sorry Scott ;D

Chris.

A bit more done on this build.

First up, I painted the wooden boxes using the method that Ken taught on SMA.

Then I added Some rails, track attachments, tool box, etc....I have no idea why I didn't add this before paint!?! You can also see the wooden boxes after an application of Burnt Umber oil.

I have to touch up the modulation on one of the gas tanks. I added that after so I could get the side of it covered.

QUESTION: Would those wooden boxes have been painted green? If so I'll apply some AK Chipping Fluid first and chip the paint.

Now, onto the tracks. I primered then painted Vallejo Rust. Over that I sprayed flat black. I'm thinking I should go over them again with Vallejo Mahogony Brown (70846) - just to rust em up more. I've read that they were factory painted black but that the black paint would soon wear off.

Thanks for looking and feel free to critique and/or share some ideas/corrections.

Another small update before I return to my life...(decorating the tree tonight....JOY!)

Instead of the kit unditching log and cable I decided to use dowel and cable from a car mirror. (The kind that you can adjust with a 'joystick' of sorts.) The 'log' was scraped with a razor saw and then painted with a dark grey, wiped with a rag and then AK Dark Brown Wash. I'll wash it more later.

Trying to remember if I mentioned it already ::)

Oh yeah...Looking great there Scott!!! I like the wooden boxes and you know what I think og the mirror cables!!! Spot on!!! ;) ;)

Hello there nice looking t34 the weathering is coming along real nice and that's a question I have for you about the wood effect cant find the CID on here how do you go about it

Many thanks

Geegad

Scott,
I would look to Steve R for info on what whas painted and in what color. Steve can probably tell you the name of the guy who assembled them!! L.O.L.
An interesting way to add life to tracks is to paint 1 or 2 links in a slightly different shade, then "sponge" the entire run in a variety of rust shades. Once washes are added on top of this sponging, along with dust, dirt, and a metal finish on the high points & cleats, the tracks will realy look the part.

Thanks for the track advice. Definitely need to work on those.

OK. Seriously stupid. I have applied 4 filters (well kinda fil-washes lol). Between each layer I took a picture. Marked the table and tank so that it would register in the same spot and them beable to see the transformation. After the last pic I go to eject the SD Card to post here and....no SD card. ARGHHHH! Oh well...here are the results after a series of of Filter, Satin, Filter, Satin, Filter, Matte, Filter. Using Burnt Umber and Green Artists Oils. - First couple of layers were filters then kinda became half wash....
