T34/76

Hey Scott,

I have never done the color modulatuion thing my self. But I have been following your to see how it turnes out. I must say that your T34 is really starting to take shape.

Thanks for the comments. It's coming along. I added decals tonight. No problems there. The oils were good and dry, a few light coats of Future and voila.

I'll post pics when I get more progress but there was a cool option for the decals that are basically the names of farmers that would pool money and buy a tank. Then they'd put their names on it. I think that makes for a neat conversation in and of itself.

Certainly does make for a neat story behind the tank Scott! Looking forward to seeing the pics!!! ;)

Hi Scot,

very nice work on your T 34 its looking very nice ! ;D

Happy Christmas

shane.

Thanks guys.

I've been working at the tracks on and off today. Using a selection of rust tone Vallejo Model Color paints and a sponge. The waffle pattern on the topside is really 'dense'. Having a hard time getting color in the recesses. I'm going to use pigments to get some rusty tones in there.

Still lots to do on these; several washes, pigments and graphite, but it's a start. Thanks for all the tips and advise Ken. ;)

Those are going to look sweet after the Washes and graphite!! Moving right along there Scott!!!! Very nice!!! ;)

Thanks Todd.

So far today I've been able to work on the tracks a bit more. First a variety of AK Washes. I followed this with Vallejo Pigments and then washes a few more links with the AK Washes.

Finally I used AK Dark Steel Pigments to expose metal where the road wheels rub and also on the highest point of the outer side. After that I used a Silver Prismacolor Pencil and rubbed some of the edges and corners. The pencil is a bit brighter than the AK Dark Steel and adds a bit of variety to the sheen.

Overall experience: Totally fun.

try saying there fun after doing a few more tanks :p

but your results are top notch Scott turned out very well

Thanks Spud. Honestly I can't see this not being fun. It's totally right brained and you can almost reach an alpha state while painting.

I tend to compare time up here working on a model to carrying bundles of 30 yr. asphalt shingles up a ladder to a roof... making this always totally fun.

Nice work on the tracks Scott ....They came out excellent mate :)

Chris.

If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong.

Scott, they look killer man. You really rocked those things eh?

You'll have to tell me your secret. ;D

lol ken i find tracks mind numbing always did but suprisingly i dont mind putting them together

Now that the tracks are pretty much done I've started chipping the paint. First, sponging a light green and then hand painting the exposed steel inside the light green. I got carried away a bit...but it was fun. The white wash, later, will cover some of it.
