Using Tamiya Polishing Compound on Other Things

I was wondering if i can use tamiya polishing compound on other things outside of modeling.

For example i have a scratch on my truck speedometer plastic lense. Also i have some scratches on my eye glasses.

Will it work the same as on model plastic?

Thanks @urumomo it worked perfectly on my eye glasses, its like i got a new pair of lenses.

I am curious why polishing compound smells like propane or natural gas, to me it does.
