     LOL...was thinking oxide/raw on one of the shields myself Rob!! ;D But the PG on the base and yellow bulk with the offset??? Honey....I'm heading to the LHS!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was thinking the PG because they could have taken it from an 88 and did the mods, which you can paint primer red too. The shields in RO and some raw metal will look cool.

Here are a few pics of my KV with 88 on it. You can see what I means about the various colors.

Of course PG and P-gelb instead of the green.

Just a thought. Would show that it is a late war test bed for the gun and cradle.

Rob, I'm afraid my skills just aren't there yet. It would be pretty sick. I guess we will have to wait and see what T does with his when he gets back from the LHS. Haha

Who wants to see this bad boy with its base color??????

What do you guys think?

As I want to make sure I weather this the right way, do you guys think I should lay down some future on it next?

Thanks again for following along!

Oh that is YUMMY!!! Nice coating!!! Man I need to weather something now!!! ::) LOL!!

As for the weathering....I thought I remember reading you were using MM?? Long and the short....if you used an enamel paint...yes on the clear coat. If that is an acrylic coat, you need not if you do not want to. AK, if that is your choice of medium, can go right over an acrylic coat with no problem!! Since AK is enamel based it will lift off unprotected enamel paints!! ;)

Only the primer is Enamel MM, the Pre-Shade and Dark yellow is Tamiya. :). I just realized I have to put some sort of camo on the blast shields.... Instructions shows quigly green lines... what do you guys think?

SOunds like you are good to go on the first step for the weathering then!! ;D

Camo???? Your kit my friend! Don't know enough about these to say whether it is a "must" of not! I think though, it can go anyway you want! With or without or even some funky camo you like better!! (not that anything I just typed helped) LOL!!!

(pssssst...you know I am still thinking about the pics Pony posted a couple pages back!!! ) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

So I set out this morning to get the squiggly green line camo scheme painted on the blast shields and gun. Well the modeling God's had a very different plan. They decided I would struggle all day!!!! Ever have one of those days?

I tried so hard to get the paint thinned right, the p.s.i. right, I even tried both airbrushes. I either got the paint so thin that it didn't "stick" or the paint too think that I couldn't get the lines thin enough. That and I had a hard time with the scale aspect of the lines...

So, I had to repaint the blast shields and try something else. The pattern that I decided to go with came from the instructions. I hope that they are accurate because I'm not painting them again! After the blast shields were dry enough I started masking out the scheme below and then set out to painting. Well, I started taking up the masking tape and all was looking good. That is until I realized that when I pulled up the masking tape on the right side blast shield I took up two pieces of P.E. and I only found one... So, from there I had to scratch build the missing P.E., re-glue it, mask it off and then repaint it. And then I noticed that in handling the shield I managed to chip it. Well, I tried to brush paint it which didn't work cause the dark yellow didn't match what had gone through the A.B. So I had to try and make it off and paint it all over again. Ugggh.

So, after many hours of fighting with the blast shields, here is the result:

I feel like I just went 10 rounds with a heavy weight, and am waiting for the judges decision.

Looks good to me. And no two tanks will have the same camo pattern; you can pretty much do it as you like.

LOL...camo looks awesome Adam!!! Sorry you had such a trying time getting here but it looks great I think!! A good filter or two when you done will tone it down too a bit! Right on!

What should I do next? There are tools, seats etc to be painted. Should I do that first? Also, I have AK's Nato filter, would that work? I've never tried a filter before. Only thing I've ever really done is a pin wash. Haha

Yes.....

LOL!! Not sure on what the instructions call for for the painting schedule on this but if you are done with the painting and camo then yeah have at the tools to give you a break from the beast. I would say most definitely on the NATO Filter. A filter is applied similar to a wash with the exception of thin coats and build up the effect to what you like. Give the bottle a quick light shake, don't fully mix or, mix up and put some in a small container (cap or something) and mix 50/50 with white spirits. Lay down a light coat over everything and let dry. If you think you need another...and then even another, have at it. You just don't want to apply like a heavy wash, build up in layers! This will tone down the normal sharp contrast between the hard edge of the camo and the base coat. Remember....less is more!! ;)

Thanks guys!!! I did a little bit more tonight. Painted some of the tools and the chair. I need to figure out how to brush paint better.... But I'm hoping it will all blend it, look better after weathering processes...
