Scott, just to play the devil’s advocate...
Oh, how I love doing that...
Must be a legacy from my days at uni - nothing better than to get a chance to try to pick your best buddy’s argument apart, bit by bit, by constructing the weirdest and furthest out worst-case scenarios you could think of. Man, sometimes I truly miss those days...
Anyway, enough with the rambling â€" on with the arguments...
If this was a land-based contest then you wouldn’t get day-by-day WIP images of the builds.
I can certainly see the wisdom in not wanting to disclose the numbers (seriously guys, are you so set on winning that you will pick category based on number and quality of contestants and not what you want to build?) but then what about those who post pictures vs. those who don’t?
If knowing the numbers is considered an advantage, then surely seeing your “opponents†WIP pictures is an even bigger advantage.
So, if no numbers are shown, then I would suggest that we must
all post WIP pictures. Fair’s fair, right...?
Grendels, that was exactly why I suggested that the contest was split into noob and veteran categories. I enter into the contest knowing full well that if I pick a category that one or more of the “experts†has picked then I won’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of placing in the top-three of the category. Not that I had much chance anyway, but that's down to my noobness...
So in the end I simply decided to build what I had in the house and what I wanted to build. But still... It seems that, for some, this is still a concern. A shame that we couldn’t solve that, really...
Full disclosure: I’m personally intensely curious as to the numbers of builds, their nature and the category distribution. But that’s just me â€" the geeky geek who loves to look at graphs, stats, and numbers...
I’m particularly interested in the armour vs. aircraft and WWII vs. modern trends. But... Ah, well... I’ll just have to wait until the contest is over, won’t I...?
