Honda!

Thanks all, I am really trying to recreate a real car. So I am doing lots of painting to get there. Everything but the interior is about done with paint so I can start putting the engine together soon. That will involve lots of copper wire...

Nice paintwork, John.
Not looking forward to that with a car project I've got coming up

Nice stuff there G!!! Great job on the thin coats, color on the body will look sweet all polished up! Motor looks tops too!!! ;)

Coming along nicely. Body looks great. FUnny...I visited an Aquarium this week too.

Really good work on that so far my friend. I know you're having fun experiementing on a bunch of new stuff too! Did you think of using the finely crushed corn starch to flatten some of the gloss paints? You can use a little or alot and can get a pretty realistic look to a semi-dulled finish on the body that way so it don't look brand new.

Thanks, getting a car squeekly clean is very hard to do. It is easier to dirty them up. So I do understand this comment well....

I stripped off this layer of paint. The next day I took a look at it and just couldn't get over the orange peel. So I started over.....

Thanks! It looks much better now!

I haven't done that, I have a product called flat base that does the same thing and is made by the manufacturer of this paint. It works very well for flatting down the paint.

Next update should be about Sunday.

That red is looking really sweet. I'm also very impressed by the detail included on the engine, and nice work on the wiper fluid bottle.

The paintwork is looking sweet.

I really like the way you did the liquid in the bottle.
Well simple things please simple minds. ::)

Thanks all. I will have another update later today....

I too like how that bottle came out. Took a few tires to get it right.

The paint is definitely looking good John. The detail on this kit always impresses me. The Japanese know how to build real cars and ones in scale. ;D

Great attention to detail!
Having never shot glossy coats in my life, I wonder if you always apply the the coat by moving the airbrush in the same direction all the time or do you criss cross. Looking at the video you seem to go one way all the time. Is that done deliberately?
Cheers,
Guido

That they do. I have three other Tamiya car models and if they are like this one, they will build up really nice.

Nope, not on purpose, just habit. The trick is to build up the color slowly so that you don't put down to much at once. You don't want it to puddle, or splotch. So just take your time and you can get it right.

This was my first gloss coat in a while, and it seems that Tamiya gloss red is not a good one to start with..... I have found that others are having trouble with it orange peeling as well.
