Revell - Maquis Fighter

exactly what Solander said. The best matt finish to dumb down the gloss is Testors Dullcote. It's soo flat...way more that matt varnish or whatever. I use it outta my airbrush in between most stteps when im painting or weathering..

Thanks, Sol. I'll have to be quite patient then, when waiting for the gloss coat to dry. Maybe get started on my next build while that's happening. :D

Punk, Testor's dullcote it is! Oooh I feel like I'm getting all serious hunting down the best brands! ;D

Cheers, guys!

Going a little bit of course with the paint scheme. It's not finished by a long way, but this should give an idea of what I'm doing.

Still lots of touch ups to do, but this is essentially all the colours down.

I put a little bit of rust in some of the grated panels. I know this is weathering, but wasn't sure how the copper paint would sit on the clear coat after, so I went ahead and did this. Just like on my Bird of Prey.

Again, I've still to touch up in places.

Camera didn't quite focus here, but I've done these quarter dome bits with aluminium and put a bit of copper on there.

So, not got much done this weekend, but it's just as well as I'm waiting for my wash and clear coats to arrive in the post.

One thing that's on my mind; I'm going to have to attach the warp nacelle grills and the wings AFTER I've done the weathering. This is because I can't apply the mask inside these grills and I can't attach the wings without the grills in place.

Therefore; I'll have to do putty work around those grills after the weathering. Then I'll need to somehow weather those puttied areas (very small areas), but it might be tricky to make it all blend. :-\

Yup, it looks
really good!
It'll be nice to see it all completed, and lit!
;D
I am sure you are thinking that as well. ;)

Me too.....Can you say, "Balance of Power"?
;D

Balance of Power!!!! ;D

Mike, I'm really bad at this stuff. Are you giving me a clue about your next kit, or do you speak of the inner struggle between the desire to finish what you've started or moving on to the much anticipated next project?

Or am I way off entirely?! ;D

Ok, so, look what I got today! Yes, I'm finally one of the herd!!!! ;D

Ok, so don't be mad at me, but I've decided to finish the construction before I start weathering. I know the dull coat will fog the clear parts, but I think I can spray it so it won't go into these engine grills. The clear plastic is quite a bit recessed, so I think it should be OK.

Here's one of the engine grills puttied into place with black paint to prevent the light leak as per Mr. Quaralane's instruction.

Looks like it's blocking the light pretty well.

Well, I am sorry about that. I had a brain Cramp the other morning when I typed "Balance of Power"...What I meant to type was, "Balance of TERROR". One of my favorite episodes of Star Trek T.O.S.
It features the first appearance of the Romulans!!!!! I shouldn't type before I am awake.
Sorry for the confusion, and yes, it is a clue as to an up-coming project I have in mind. ;D

@Quaralane, yeah, this thing'll keep me warm during the harsh Scottish winter! T-shirts are mere undergarments. ;)

@Grendels, cheers mate!

@Mike, Whaaaaa? You're building Mark Lenard's Romulan Commander's BoP?????!!! Awesome!!
