Looks good! I take it MMT's light pack came in?

Yeah baby!

And im now running 12v direct power, with everything else resisted properly ;)

Test it all tonight (man flue allowing), and then to start channelling the wires up inside her!

Running a temperature is hindering the progress, and my temperament though!

Thanks guys.

Though, I have to paint it yet, which is kinda where I fall down. My enthusiasm is jumping ahead of my ability AND wallet in almost every way :'(

Im still rockin the rattle cans  Its not going tooooooooooo bad.............

But 1 question whilst on the topic......................

How do I paint her with all these windows cut?

Are the holes small enough that it might not be a problem? Will the paint going in the holes go all over the LED's?

Do I paint as much as possible, and THEN glue her together (i fear this will lack consistency in the final layers and tones)?

Thanks for the feedback....................

smusno.

Mate, that was like four questions, not one. ;D

In my opinion, you need to plug those holes somehow, obviously masking them would be a huge chore but I really think you need to address them or the paint will indeed affect the final outcome. If the LED's are installed before painting, and you don't address them, the paint will indeed cover the holes/LED's for sure

I always paint stuff as close to fully assembled as possible to avoid accidents like glue attacking the paint or seams that will show after assembly. I would suggest trying to get it assembled and complete before spraying but that's really up to you.

Best of luck, it's looking good.

*really enjoyed your video BTW

You could consider applying your windows to the inside of the model. Either clear 2 part epoxy, or microscale krystal klear. Grendels has a good tutorial for using the krystal klear. It was in his castle youtube vid.

Then you could mask each window with some liquid mask using a cocktail stick.

Like this stuff :- http://www.modelsforsale.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=334949

However, it's never going to be perfect, so will require some brush work to touch it up after it's removed.

Not sure if it's the right solution for you, but that's how I'm going about doing the Vor'cha cruiser.

dear mods, if my pics start to clog things up.............. just bellow.

but im a great believer in cataloguing progress ;D

Awesome job! Especially considering your under the weather.

The milk carton trick works really well. I think that was Grendels that suggested it to me once upon a time, but I've never got around to trying it myself.

the milk carton plastic works well. but the amount of pressure i have to put on them to close the top and bottom of the engines make it impracticable.

I have however just cut a 6" rectangle of white grease proof paper. rolled it up into a big oll sausage, and mounted inside.

The beauty of this is that you can roll it tight. then, when you put the 2 halves of the engines go together it springs open ans full the cavity. thus dissipating the light evenly!

one of the things i have learned, is CA glue and clear plastic DO NOT MIX :'(

peace, smusno

I've started using clear 5 min epoxy for all my clear parts.

Have you got bad fogging on the part? I don't know if anyone here knows how to get rid of that. White spirit maybe?

I am glad I could help you with this. I don't own this site, I am just one of the Mods, and I know a few things about lighting up models. Someone helped me out in the distant past and I am repaying them the favor anytime I help someone else out.

If you find my Millennium falcon build, I have a lighting tutorial in progress. It stalled out when work took up most of my free time. But in four weeks, I get a five week vacation. It will get finished then for sure. I will get some more progress done on it next week, I have six days off that week.

On top of that, I am a teacher and I have had to learn how to explain a few things here and there.

I did use the milk jug plastic on a model about two years ago. It does work, but can be difficult to work with. Wax paper or parchment paper for baking is much easier.

Good to see the progress you are making.
