If I can get the seams and steps all out on the Mk.VIII I'll be doing a NMF RAAF scheme. The Mk.I/II will be this one...

I built the Tamiya kit, fantastic kit - I really enjoyed it. It was such a fun experience I bought a second one.

Looking forward to seeing how these finish up.

Hurrah !!! Tally Ho ;D...not one ......but two Spits ;D Do please carry on !!

Chris.

Getting closer. I gave up on the NMF for the Mk.VIII because of the body work required. Not worth it to me on this one. After my battle with Tamiya Acrylics I got the green on a few minutes ago. I free handed the pattern so it's not perfect. I need to rub out the green in places but that's easy enough.

Ya just gotta love the Spitty. Nice work ShutterAce. At the rate you are going the list will be gone in no time!
Sorry if I missed it but did you end up using Tamiya Acrylics for the Dark Green and Dark Earth? If so, which XF numbers are they? Just asking cause I usually steer clear of Tamiya for those two colors. The two or three times I tried to use them they just did not quite look the right color to my eye. Maybe you did some mixing to get em just right cause it looks good on that piccy above?

Thanks.

The MK.VIII is all Tamiya Acrylic, the MK.II is PollyScale except for the green which is Tamiya. I had a real bear of a time with the Tamiya because I wasn't used to thinning paint as much as it needed to be. I'm mainly an enamel user but I bought a bunch of PollyScale cheap. I like the PollyScale. The Tamiya was an experiment to see how it compared. Now that I know the secret I can use it but it's not on my preffered list at the moment. ;)

How was the fit on the other Kit.... I know about the Tamiya... but never heard of the other trade mark !

It wasn't too horrible. A bit of work at the rear wing fuse joint but that's typical for any Spitfire it seems.

Otaki went away probably 20 years ago. Back in the day they were top shelf. Nowadays not so much. Some of the kits were re-released by ARII in recent years. I like them because they are simple as well as being nostalgic for me. You can get them quite cheaply. This one I picked up for $1.25US last year. Also, picked up the P-40E last year for $5.00US. Good bang for the buck I would say. ;D

That camo looks pretty good. Reminds me of my first Spit, lo so many moons ago.
