Currently have this on the bench. I will be painting it pink with the purple decals and painted wood tailgate.
I am stripping chrome off sprues now since most of the frame and suspension parts are on the chrome sprue.

Second coat of pink. I may do one more then start assembly.

After second coat of paint I waited around four hours then sprayed a test piece with a clear gloss. It took paint off in some sections. Anyone know why that is?

Tamiya X-17
Krylon Colormaxx Clear.

That's some hot azz stuff , the clear ,
about 1/2 solvent , at least , -- acetone and butyl acetate , just like Tamiya Extra Thin / airbrush cleaner

especially atop that acrylic sprayed directly to the raw styrene

IDK if 4 hours is near long enough for that pink to crosslink to full cure .
24 hours at least , definitely prior to coating it with solvent

I used white primer before paint.

That Tamiya was too green or that clear is just way too hot

What primer did you use ?
an alkyd like that RustOleum 2X ?
that stuff would hold up to that clear no problem , it definitely dissolved that acrylic though .

That clear has an ether in it too -- a heavier weight one that is slower to evaporate ...

It was Rustoleum primer. I will switch to a Rustoleum clear hopefully that will work.
